Govt can't prosecute police: Speakers at teachers' rally


Anti-oppression teachers' rally, protest and silent march program is going on in Dhaka University. Teachers and students of different universities of the country participated in it. The speakers in the rally said that the government is resting on the shoulders of the police. They cannot judge this police.


Today Thursday at around 11 o'clock in the rain, the gathering of anti-oppression teachers started at the foot of Aparajeya Bengal of Dhaka University. Due to the rain, few teachers-students participated in the rally in the beginning, but as the day progressed, many people started gathering there.


In the assembly, the teachers said, 'We can't ask the sword for killing Gordan. The police force of the government who killed the common students cannot judge the police. These incidents should be tried under the supervision of the United Nations. The government should make fair trial of these killings. Sheikh Hasina has to resign voluntarily.'


The teachers also said, 'If you protest, different tags are applied. It must be closed. Educational institutions must be opened. The government will not prosecute the murders. Because, they themselves are murderers.'


Stating that six coordinators have been detained in the DB office by illegally violating human rights, the speakers in the rally said, 'The coordinators must be released. Don't shoot another shot. The shell of government development, the shell of consciousness has been broken. The government that relies on the police cannot judge the police. Business of consciousness, litigation should be stopped.'


Dhaka University Professor Kamrul Hasan Mamun of Physics Department, Law Department Professor Asif Nazrul, Finance Department Chairman Jahangir Alam and Population Science Department Professor Mainul Islam, Jagannath University Professor Nasiruddin Ahmed, BRAC University teachers Wasima and Bayejid Islam, Chittagong University teachers spoke in the anti-oppression teachers rally. Moshrefa Aditi Haque, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) teacher Imrul Azad, North South teacher Riasat Khan and others.


The teachers made several demands from the rally. They said that the trial of the murder and the unconditional release of others including the detained students. Curfew should be lifted. Arrests in the name of block raids should be stopped. All educational institutions should be opened.


The teachers from the rally have announced the 'Droha Yatra Programme' from the front of the National Press Club tomorrow at 3 pm on Friday. They will march from Press Club to Central Shaheed Minar. They invited people from various classes and professions including university teachers, engineers, doctors to participate in it.


After an hour and a half speech, the teachers started a protest march on the campus. After hearing the news that many teachers are not being allowed to enter the Dhaka University campus, the assembled teachers started marching towards the entrance gate of Neelkhet University. Later they got news that the teachers were being allowed to enter. Then they marched towards Raju Bhaskara. At around 1:15 they took a silent procession from Raju Sculpture to Shaheed Minar. There they paid their respects and observed a minute of silence.
